About Us

We don't always know what's going on behind closed doors or in someone's family. It's scary to reach out for help and tell your story but we're here to listen and offer hope.

Behind Closed Doors is a nonprofit organization in Gainesville, Florida. We serve clients in Gainesville and the surrounding areas by offering mental health counseling, support, and services for parents and children healing from traumatic situations. 

In 2013, Allyson Corcoran, LMHC, realized there was a need for services to help parents and children who had been affected by domestic abuse or other traumatic family experiences such as divorce or loss. 

Allyson, a survivor of domestic abuse, knows firsthand how these situations can affect the parent and children and wanted to create a way to help while giving back to her community.

In partnership with Oaks Family Counseling, Allyson started Behind Closed Doors where she and other counselors began offering help and hope to those going through difficult times who may not be able to afford counseling services or support on their own.
