Terry Barnett Davies, 79, passed away on August 15, 2023 in Gainesville, FL. Terry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Diane “Dee” Davies, daughter Allyson Corcoran (Eric) and granddaughter Riley Corcoran, all of Gainesville, FL; brothers Gwilym Davies, Jr. and Jerry Davies, sisters Rebecca Neff (Tom) and Dorothy Nichter (Tom), and many other beloved nieces, nephews, family members and friends. He was predeceased by his father Gwilym D. Davies, mother Dorothy B Davies and brother Gordon D Davies.
Terry was born in Lewisburg, PA, graduated from Central Dauphin High School, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, his Master’s Degree from the University of North Texas and his Doctorate from California Southern University. He served in the United States Air Force from 1962-1966 during the Vietnam conflict.
Terry was employed by Johnson Controls and Danfoss, each for more than twenty years. His employment took the family to San Antonio, TX, Harrisburg, PA, Richmond, VA, Jacksonville, FL and Ocala, FL.
Terry was an Elder and member of North Lake Presbyterian Church in Lady Lake, FL. He was also a Past Master of Belleview Masonic Lodge #95 in Belleview, FL.
Terry was an avid sailor, reader and traveler. Most of all, Terry was a loving husband, father, PaPa, sibling, and a kind, generous and much loved and admired friend to many. He also loved his many cats over the years. His smile, infectious laugh and warm friendship will be greatly missed by so many who were touched by his life. There will never be another man like Terry - he was one of a kind.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 pm on Veteran’s Day, Saturday, November 11, 2023, at his daughter's house in Gainesville, FL. Join us for a casual patriotic get-together on Veteran's Day. Please wear your best red, white and blue to honor Terry, who was always proud to be a veteran and an American. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 12th at 2:00pm at the Belleview Masonic Lodge No. 95, in Belleview, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Behind Closed Doors, a nonprofit foundation with a mission of helping children and families who are survivors of domestic abuse or trauma.
Terry Davies, PhD, is the father of Behind Closed Doors founder, Allyson Corcoran. He was always a strong supporter of counseling, Allyson's work and this mission. He empowered and encouraged others and touched so many lives. Allyson and the other counselors honor his legacy by continuing the work of Behind Closed Doors.
